Our Nursery & Preschool program is licensed by the Kentucky Department of Regulated Childcare as of November 3, 2009.

Our philosophy of education may be viewed on the Educational Program tab.  Of course the Nursery and Preschool is much less formal than that of the Grammar School, though it offers many of the same studies.  Reading, Writing, Arithmetic and Practical Skills are taught naturally through regular activities, learning centers, and games.   For example, we learn color in many different ways.  We talk about the colors we see around us - in the art we're looking at, the clothes we are wearing, the watercolors we are painting, and the books we are reading.  We can match colored felt in the learning centers.  We identify and find colors when we play I Spy.  Another example may be seen by looking at some of the ways we learn about quantities.  We count when we set the table for lunch - How many children are eating today?  How many plates will we need?  How many plates are on the table?  Do we have enough?  We count or begin to understand quantities when we play with the glass beads or the blocks in the learning centers.  We count when we line up to go outside.  So you can see that there are many opportunities to learn basic skills.

But we're not just concerned with the basic skills.  We read literature & poetry, play music, sing, put on plays, draw, color, paint, study nature, look at maps, work, and play.   Children love to learn and we try to provide a rich banquet of opportunity for them.  For more information check out the rest of our website.
